Chapter One: Misunderstood Missile

It was a bright and sunny day in June, all the kids were laughing and playing. While in America Bush was getting briefed about the new weapon that the Military wanted to try out. The weapon was a long range chemical bomb called: Tofu-Version International Radius Urine Sample.

"Ok, I have decided to let you test this weapon on every country EXCEPT the Congo" Bush told the military staff.

"Why do we keep the Congo sir?" Asked one of the solders

"Well for 3 reasons" Bush began to say as he began to pull out a projection screen… "Reason number one, that’s where all my ‘shipments’ come from. Reason number two, they have non-assassinating pretzels down there and reason number 3….This Is Chewbacca he is a 7ft Wookie living on Endor with a bunch of 3ft Ewalks, that does not make sense"

All the military personal just gave the president a weird look.

Meanwhile in Canada…

It was exam time at Weldon High school. Josh and Evan were dreading going to school.

"Man Evan, we’re not friggin robots they can’t expect us to spit out information at any moment. Sometimes I wish….I wish…" Josh began to say to Evan

"You wish….that something horrible would happen henceforth not going to exams correct Josh?" Evan asked

"Yep"

"Well too bad man, you and I both know that its not gonna happen. Now lets go before I kick you in the nuts"

The boys went into Josh’s car and drove to school.

"So Josh, what exam you got today?" Evan asked

"………Advanced Nuclear Physics" Josh answered

"Liar what do you REALLY have?"

"Math, happy?" Josh said with a frown on his face

Back in America….

Going back to Canada…..

Josh and Evan were both about to start the exams when the PA system came on to the principal’s voice.

"Attention students. We have just been informed that Canada has been attacked by American Missiles. We have also been alerted that all other countries except the Congo have also been attacked. Exams are cancelled until further notice now please GET THE HELL OUTTA HERE!"

Josh jumped out of his chair and proceeded to run into the hallway to look for his friend. To his surprise Evan was already waiting for Josh at his car.

"Man lets get the hell out of here" Evan said ecstatically

"Way ahead of you my good friend" Josh answered

The boys jumped into the car and drove off into a random direction.

"Man…Where should we go guy?" Josh asked Evan while trying to control his scaredness.

"Well man, I have been working on an underground bomb shelter….I wasn’t gonna tell anybody but since you’re here….might as well go there right?"

"Ok your house it is!"

Josh drove as fast as his 94’ Intrepid would go and within moments the boys were in Evan’s back yard. The car was pretty much screwed.

"Man my dad is gonna kill me!" Josh said as he began to cry.

"Don’t worry man, in a matter of minutes he’s gonna be dead…err I mean, its ok dude as long as your safe he will understand"

And with that the boys went into Evan’s underground bomb shelter.

"Man where the hell did you get all of this and the time and……" Josh began to ask but was cut off by Evan.

"Well my friend… I stole the parts and as for the time…I can’t really explain that its just one of those things that just happen."

*Man this can’t be good, what’s gonna happen to us and everybody else? * Josh thought.

Moments later Bush came on CNN and started to announce to the world what is going on.

"Everybody please know this. We are not attacking you and that I screwed up badly and I’m sorry for that. Oh yeah you should also note that people are turning into zombies and that the only safe place is in the Congo. I guess I should have told you that sooner my bad.

Just then Bush had a heart attack and his skin started to tear open and blood and ooze began pouring out of everywhere.

"HOLY CRAPPENFEST!" both the boys shouted as they began to throw up due to what they just saw on TV.

"Ok let me get this straight, those bombs were filled with some kind of gas that’s turning everybody into zombies?" Evan asked in a panicked voice.

"More or less. And the Congo is the only safe place too" Josh answered

"@%$!" Evan shouted

"Man its ok, we just gotta get to the Congo it CAN’T be that hard!" Josh said

Just then the boys began crying

Meanwhile, in Umbrella Corp Mansion….

"Men, due to the fact that were all a bunch of morons who would have thought twice about doing what we did…." One of the bosses began to say. "Were gonna send in our special forces to find out what happened."

Just then, Solid Snake came in through the door. "What’s my mission sir?" He said while standing at attention.

"Snake, you’re to go to the small town of Lindsay in Canada and see what’s happening. And if you find any survivors you know what to do" the Boss told Snake, and when into some smaller details about the mission.

Hours later Snake took off in a Hind D helicopter and began his trip to Lindsay.

Back in Lindsay…

The boys left the shelter and began to walk around the now dead town of Lindsay.

"Where should we go now man?" Josh asked

"Well we both know that there’s zombies on the loose. So I think that we should arm ourselves with guns, ammo and a car" Evan answered.

"Ok, I’ll head over to the police station and you go over to the gun shop….and the car lot. Evan, I have always wanted a jeep so if you could…." Josh said

"Don’t worry man I’ll get a jeep" Evan told Josh.

The boys then went there separate ways.

Evan wandered the streets armed with his blunt sword that he bought in Italy the past year. He knew that there were going to be zombies on the loose so he decided to arm himself.

"Ha, I am so smart! I’m not going to be like those loser’s in the movies who go around in a dead city with nothing to protect them" Said Evan.

Evan walked by 7-11 and thought to himself

*Well, since I’m here I might as well "borrow" some food and Yu-Gi-Oh cards *

And with that Evan began to rob 7-11.

"Ok now that we have food and junk I can go and get some am………AHHHH HOLY CRAP!" Evan yelled.

Around the corner, a group of zombies came from nowhere, and they looked hungry. Evan dropped all the food and drew his sword.

"Oh, O" He said as the zombies came closer.

"I DON’T WANNA DIE….HELLLLLLP MEEEEEEE!!!!" Evan who was now scared shitless.

Out of nowhere Snake’s hind D helicopter landed on the roof of 7-11 and Snake jumped out and began to shoot the zombies.

"Take this you SOB’s!" Snake yelled as he jumped off the roof and landed beside Evan. Snake grabbed Evan and ran, leaving behind five or six timed grenades.

Evan was too shocked to say anything to protest his sudden abduction, and that suited Snake just fine. "Hey kid." He started, getting the 17 year olds attention. "What are you doing here? Why aren’t you taking shelter? How did you survive?"

Evan blinked, recognizing the man from somewhere. "I-I don’t know… I need to get out… I need to save my friend… I have to save him." Evan said, sounding as though he was in a trance.

Snake sighed deeply. *Fuck. The kid’s in shock. He’s going to be no help to me this way. Orders say I have to find survivors and keep them alive… he mentioned a friend… * Snake paused for a second. "Kid?"

"Evan… call me Evan."

"Ok, Evan, where is your friend heading?"

"To the cop shop… we need weapons… so he was going to try to get some from there… Why?"

Snake slapped a clip into a 9mm pistol he had on his left thigh and handed it to Evan. "Stay here. Shoot anything that isn’t alive."

Evan got off his butt and walked quickly after Snake. "WAIT!! Who are you? And what do you mean? How are those things not alive?"

Snake breathed deeply and turned around. "Those things are undead humans. This was caused by a military test by the American government, I’m the clean up crew for this sector. Code name Snake. Everything in this town seems to have been infected by the T-Virus weapon, everything but you and apparently your friend." He then tossed Evan a second clip. "You’ll probably need this too. Aim for the head, and try not to go into shock again, it wouldn’t be good for you." Snake said with a small smile as he headed off in the direction his GPS told him would be the Police station.

Josh had little problem escaping the amazingly slow zombies that riddled the streets, searching for their next meal. After a few minutes of dodging and running from the undead, he arrived at his final destination. The Police station was in ruins, it apparently was the target of the attack. Rubble and debris was everywhere as well as many uniformed zombies, all of whom had their Police regulation side arm, an H&K 9mm with extended clip and a minimum of two extra clips, and other useful tools. Josh started towards one of the more dead looking Police officers, a larger, more dismembered corpse that was face down on the cement with an iron pole impaling him and keeping him from doing anything though he wasn’t moving, Josh was still wary.

"MoooOOO!" A long, eerie moan emanated from somewhere to the left of Josh, and there was the sounds of gunshots in the distance. *Sounds like Evan found a weapon by himself… either that or there is another survivor… * Josh moved in closer to the impaled corpse and looked it over, searching for its sidearm. He spotted it on the cop’s left side, still holstered in his belt. Josh started to reach for it when he swore that the corpse moved. Josh continued to grab for the weapon when the zombie’s head snapped up and brought his gapping maw around to attempt to take a chunk out of Josh.

BLAM!!

A single bullet impacted with the right temple of the zombie, its clotted blood spraying across Josh’s face and its brain matter matting his shirt to his chest. Josh looked himself over and threw up. When he had finished, a single man stood over him, handing him a small rag. "Clean yourself up, grab the gun and let’s go. Your friend Evan is waiting for you at 7-11. We don’t want to let him down do we?" Josh shook his head no and the pair took off in a light sprint towards Evan’s current location.

Evan had no zombie problems since Snake had left, and he was currently playing a solo game of Yu Gi Oh on the counter with the cards that had been in the 7-11. *Dark Magician attacks the Blue Eyes White dragon with a reinforcements trap card backing him up and the Sword of Deep Seated. Oh Blue Eyes is sooo dead. BUT WAIT!!! BLUE EYES HAS A REINFORCEMENT CARD OF HIS OWN!!! OH BUT WAIT!! * Evan ran over to the card rack and opened up a pack of Magic the Gathering: Judgement and found the Anurid Brushhopper as the rare. *Sweet! ANURID BRUSHHOPPER ATTACKS THE BLUE EYES!!! * Evan rifled through the Magic pack again and found a Phantom Nomad. *BUT FOR ONLY TWO MANA THE PHANTOM NOMAD BLOCKED THE ANURID BRUSHHOPER AND ONLY LOSES A +1/+1 COUNTER!!! OH!! OH!!! THE TIDES HAVE TURNED!!!! BUT WAIT!!! THERE’S MORE!!! * Evan opened another pack of Magic and found nothing he liked. *Hmm… It appears that the Blue Eyes has won this battle. * He then took the Dark Magician and put him in the graveyard as well as the Anurid Brushhopper.

"EVAN!!!" called a familiar voice.

Evan spun around with the 9mm in his left hand and noticed that it was none other than Josh and the guy called Snake. "Hey! You just missed the match of the Magical Yu Gi Judgement Gathering Oh Century."

Josh smiled nervously. "You’re scared too eh?"

Evan nodded. "I just need to get my mind off it for a bit. But I think I can handle this. It’s not going to be as hard as Resident Evil, not as many strange puzzles and stuff."

Snake looked at Evan. "It probably will. You don’t need puzzles to make it hard. You may run into old friends, even family. You will have to kill them. It’s either that or they kill you."

Evan looked at the ground. "I never thought of that…"

Snake nodded. "It doesn’t occur to anyone in this kind of crisis that someone they love may have been hurt or killed. Or that they might have to be the one who kills them."

Evan looked at his gun and thought. *Will I have to kill them? Did they survive like I did? Will I have to kill everyone I once knew? What about my girlfriend Rachel? Is she Ok? Did her family think of this sort of thing in advance? I built the bunker out of humor and lack of other things to do… but it saved my life. Why does that make me the one to keep living? Why couldn’t I die and someone who actually knows how to fight live. Someone like this Snake guy. *

Josh Devan also entered into a little self-questioning period. *Why is this happening to me? What did I do to deserve this?"

Snake cut the two off their train of thought. "Sorry to interrupt, but they seem to have found our little hide-out." Evan and Josh looked out of the windows of the 7-11 they were currently residing in. Hoards upon hoards of zombies lurched towards their position like a disgusting, writhing, wave of putrid flesh. Josh’s eyes bugged out. Evan checked his gun with a look of extreme sorrow; still thinking about the fact that one of his bullets may kill someone he once knew. Snake changed the clip of his machine gun expertly, with nothing more than an apathetic sigh. He was the first to step out of the door, followed by Evan and Josh simultaneously using the double doors off the convenience store. Snake calmly opened fire into the crowd at about head level, exploding about a dozen zombie’s craniums with his high velocity rounds. Casings hit the cement with a surreal ching as he continued to fire at the still progressing hoard. Evan took careful aim at a zombie dressed in Police garb that he swore he didn’t know and fired two shots, one impacting with it’s head, killing it and the other flying wide of the mark and imbedding in another zombie’s chest. The zombie was female and dressed like a stereotypical Goth. She had a large necklace with a spider on a web with the spider’s abdomen being a blood red crystal of some sort. Evan had never asked her what it was made of when he knew her; he had never thought that he would have to do what he was about to. Not to her, she was a friend. He fired a round and Jessica’s head turned into a fine red mist with gray matter dotting it. Her body continued for two paces and then fell to the floor motionless, three of the nearby zombies dropped with her, though they had not been shot. Evan looked on curiously, both intrigued and disgusted. The zombies began to rip flesh from her undead bones as they gorged themselves on one of their own. This spurred Evan on, firing three well-aimed shots he decapitated the feasting zombies, only to attract more to the ghoul’s banquet.

Josh was having problems as well, He aimed at one zombie, but it dropped before he could even pull the trigger, Snake was doing his job with a sort of finesse that seemed strange in the gore that the trio was currently wading in.

Thirty minutes later and it was over. The hoard had been killed. Snake put another clip into his gun and turned to face Evan, who was pulling the trigger on an empty gun repeatedly. "Why? Why? Why? Why?" he repeated over and over. Snake put a hand on the boy’s shoulder and took the weapon away from his trembling hands.

"Listen Evan, tonight you did something that no 17 year old should do. You killed people that you knew, you did that without…" Snake began to say but was stopped short due to a zombie that came from nowhere and bit him.

Evan turned around to see another zombie only he had about 15 bullets in his head. Evan turned to Josh with a puzzled look.

"I wasn’t gonna let them take my best friend. Now lets get Snake back into 7-11 and see what we can do." Josh said.

Snake was bleeding from his neck and was rapidly twitching. The boys could see that Snake didn’t have that long to live. Evan left to get a first aid pack, only to come back and see a now head less Snake.

"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING JOSH!? Man your so, so …..WHY!?" Evan asked with a very pissed off expression.

"Evan, we both know what would have happened if we let him live. He would have come back and we would have to kill him anyway. And second he told me to, he knew he would not live and he will be greatly missed. Evan Snake gave me his GPS and his weapons, now we have to get out of here, we can use the hummer outside, Snake told me how to hot wire a car…or in this case a hummer"

The boys walked out of the store in tears and holding their newly found weapons. They went over to the hummer; Josh opened the hood and started it up.

"Drivers shot gun!" Josh yelled and jumped into the drivers seat.

Evan slowly walked over to the passengers door and climbed in. "You know Josh, were gonna need more ammo maybe we should go to an ammo store or something."

"Good Idea… I know you miss him. I miss him to but we have a job to do…no LETS ROLL!" Just then Josh put it into reverse and hit a wall. "Oops" Josh snickered. "Lets try this again…LETS ROLL!" Josh put it in drive, ran over some zombies and slowly drove away.

Evan tossed a grenade into the gas station outside of 7-11. "He deserves this, I don’t want those bastards eating him." Evan said with a tear.

"Your right man, good work"

Later that day at Bush Boys army surplus store, Evan walked out from the storage room in full Canadian army gear, minus the helmet and plus a few weapons. He had found the illegal stash in the back. "Appears Bush Boys was running an illegal smuggling operation in Lindsay Josh." Evan said jerking a thumb towards the back room. "I left you a couple of the nicer guns, but I took my favorites." Evan started to list off his weapons and pointing to them as he named them. "MP5s." He said pointing to two weapons strapped to his left and right legs accordingly. "Benelli 12 gauge shotgun." He said pointing to the gun on his back. "Dual Ingrams." He said pointing to the weapons strapped just under his armpits. "Snake’s handgun, which appears to be a Beretta with a with 18 shot clip." He said cocking said weapon. "Oh, and a lot of grenades." He said with a small smile pointing to the row of grenades running across his chest and back. "Of course I am wearing heavy bullet proof armor on everywhere but my head and have steel toe and shank boots." He said, moving his right foot to show off his finely polished boots.

"And what did you leave for me?" Josh asked.

Evan stopped checking his many pouches to see how much ammo he had packed and looked up at Josh. "Umm… I think there was another H&K 9 milli, a lot of 9mm ammo, A Canadian army suit, about five grenades, a few submachine guns, another Benelli, a bunch of shotgun ammo, a crossbow, some bolts, some helmets, an M16 automatic rifle, ammo for that, some 30.06 ammo, oh, and if you find a sniper rifle I got dibs." Evan paused for a second and shrugged. "I’ll just go get most of it and you can pick." Evan disappeared into the backroom to do just that.

Josh laughed to himself. *Evan has gone pretty hardcore for a goofy kid that he once was. I didn’t know he knew that much about guns and just weapons in general. *

Just then, Evan emerged from the backroom with an armful of guns and gun paraphernalia. "If you find a Magnum or a Colt .45 I want it K?"

Josh smiled. "I don’t think so. You raped the supply when you went to go ‘change’ into your new gear."

Evan smiled back. "I know. But that’s not the point. What I’ve packed can only kill maybe the population of Lindsay providing I don’t miss once and my grenades take out five or six zombies a toss. We need to get to Toronto so that we have an airport to get out of here. But before that we could probably use a pilot. Oh and a secondary plan if say the highway is clogged with crashed cars and zombies."

Josh shook his head. "Always a positive thinker."

Evan smiled. "Yup." He then reached into his left breast pocket and produced a pack of Colt Mild cigars. He lit it up, much to the shock of Josh.

"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING EVAN!?! YOU DON’T SMOKE!!" Josh screamed in protest.

"Yeah, but I figure I’m going to die anyway and death by zombies is making cancer look good. Side’s they were compliments of the 7-11 I blew up." Evan said with a smile as he put away his Zippo.

"And where did you get the Zippo?" Josh asked.

"You didn’t think I could play Magical Yu Gi Judgment Gathering Oh for all that time did you? I ran to Archie’s and snagged it, as well as this little wakazachi."

"Hey, aren’t wakazachi’s used for seppuku?" Josh asked sounding worried.

"Generally, but I’m going to use this little baby on zombies. Even though the survival knife is hardly ever useful in RE, it might come in handy. Side’s it looks cool. Oh and that reminds me. I want to head over to Trade winds and grab a katana there. I think they had a few on display. Case I run out of ammo you know." Evan said, feeling like a child with a lot of rather deadly toys.

Josh nodded. "Good idea. Do you think they have two?"

Evan shrugged. "Dunno. But, I know that if they don’t they will have some sweet European swords."

Josh smiled and nodded some more. "Niice."

"Well soldier, grab you gear, get changed and let’s roll." Evan said, and just as he finished he spotted a human shaped shadow outside of the store window, but it was moving to fast to be a zombie. Evan checked to see if his pistol was loaded and opened the door. "I just saw something, I’m heading out for a sec to check it out." He called back to Josh who was in the backroom getting on his army garb.

"K! But try not to die on me." Josh joked, sounding sort of scared for his friend’s welfare.

Evan took a drag of his Colt and stepped outside with his pistol in his right hand near his face as he descended the three front steps. He frowned to himself. *Why the hell am I doing this. It’s probably just a zombie. Sure, it moved fast, but it was probably just an undead freak with more control. * Evan thought as he rounded the corner where he had sworn he saw the thing run to. A black shape was escaping towards the demolished 7-11 and was sure it wasn’t a zombie. Its movements were to fluid, to human. "HEY!!" Evan called out to the escaping form. It stopped, turned around and called back. "WHAT!?! ARE YOU HUMAN?"

Evan smiled to himself. *Dumb question. * "YEAH! GET OVER HERE! I HAVE GUNS SO I CAN OFFER SOME PROTECTION!" *Sounds like a guy. I think I know the voice from somewhere. *

The person started running towards Evan as fast as he could and Evan just kept an open eye for any zombies. When the person got up to Evan, who had moved under a working streetlight, Evan recognized him instantly. "Biznoochie?" Evan asked his other best friend. (Biznoochie means friend in our click)

Josh VanHalteren smiled. "It’s good to see you Evan. I though I was the only one left."

Evan took another drag of his smoke and nodded. "Yup, it was me and JD (Josh Devan) and some guy called Snake. But Snake died by the zombies and a mercy killing from JD."

Josh looked confused and ran his left hand through his blonde goatee. "Two questions. One; When did you start smoking, and two; was it like Snake from Metal Gear Solid?"

Evan finished his cigar and put it out under his army boot. "One, just after I realized that zombies were now the majority of the population, and two, I think so… but it never clicked with me. But now we’ll never know. He was in the 7-11."

Josh nodded. "And what happened there? And why are you in full army garb and carrying illegal weapons?"

Evan shrugged. "Bush Boys had a sale on illegal weapon smuggling and I couldn’t resist. But, 7-11 was my doing. I didn’t want zombies eating Snake. He is the only reason I’m still alive."

Josh nodded somberly. "Gotcha. Ok then. Can I get some weapons too? Cause I feel insecure with all these people trying to eat me and stuff."

Evan nodded. "Sure… which reminds me. How did you survive this long?"

Josh shrugged. "I really don’t know. I slept in and I guess my room was airtight or something cause I’m not undead."

Evan raised an eyebrow. "Right. Oh well, all that matters is that your alive. Let’s try and keep it that way." Evan said, slapping Josh on the back and leading him to Bush Boys.

Back at Bush Boys, Josh stepped out of the backroom just as two shapes started to approach the front door of the shop. He cocked his 9-millimeter pistols and took shaky aim at the front doorway. "EVAN!?! IS THAT YOU?"

"YEAH!!" One of the shapes called back.

Josh smiled nervously and holstered his weapons then stepped outside. "Biznoochie?" He stated in a confused tone.

Josh VanHalteren smiled. "You look pretty decked out there JD."

JD smiled. "Yeah well, them’s the breaks."

Josh laughed. "Yeah. So then, where are my guns?"

Evan pointed to the counter that he had dumped the weapons on and the trio entered the store.

JD checked his ammo supply and quantity of guns. "I should be fine for now, anything on the counter is yours. But we don’t have any more suits. You’ll have to go casual."

Josh nodded and picked out a handgun and a few clips. "This reminds me of the Magnum from Resident Evil 2… I’ll take it!"

Evan looked over at Josh’s gun and almost screamed. "That is a Magnum!! HOW DID I MISS IT!!!"

Josh smiled. "My Magnum."

Evan smiled back. "Fine. But you’ll need more than the three clips you took." Evan started rifling through the clips and ammo on the counter. Separating Magnum bullets and clips from everything else and picking out the 30.06 ammo. "You’ve got about 7 clips worth here and your 4 clips. That should cover you for a bit. I’d suggest taking another gun though."

Josh nodded and looked through the pile. He picked out a Meyer Bullpup and four clips for that. "I’ll take this."

Evan nodded. "K." He then started to pick through the pile of guns and soon gave up on finding a sniper rifle here. "I’m going to check the back, you guys stand guard." With that he headed into the storage room.

JD and Josh stood just by the counter looking over the weapons, the majority of them being hunting rifles and antique handguns. "why don’t they have gunblades here?" JD griped.

"Cause gunblades aren’t real." Josh shot back.

"Yes they are!" A voice in the back called out.

"You find one Evan!?!" JD called back excitedly.

"Nope! But, I had seen one in a museum once. It was a hunting pistol with a bowie knife attached to the front." Evan called back.

JD looked downtrodden. "Why can’t there be gunblades?"

"Cause this isn’t Final Fantasy." Josh chided.

"So. There could be Final Fantasy gunblades in real life."

"But they wouldn’t work to well, unless you mean the kind that Reinhardt had in Blade 2." Josh stated.

"WHOO HOOO!!" A happy voice called out from the back room.

"Find a sniper rifle?" JD asked.

"Yup." Evan said as he emerged from the back room with an F B I style sniper rifle, stand and everything. "Oh yeah, and I found a Magnum upgrade in the back. It’s a longer barrel and an extended clip. So you’ll only have about 10 clips but you’ll get more bullets per."

Josh nodded as Evan slapped down the kit and then Josh set to work, following instructions inside of the case. "Sweet." He muttered as he read over the manual.

JD smiled. "Man, we are decked out."

Evan nodded and pushed a clip into the sniper rifle. "But we aren’t ready for what we will probably face."

JD nodded and Josh continued to work on his Magnum upgrade.

About an hour later Josh had finished his upgrade and Evan and JD had loaded as many of the other guns as they could into the Hummer. "Let’s go to Tradewinds and grab our close combat weapons." Evan said as he hopped into the passenger side of the Hummer.

Josh got into the back seat and smiled. "Sweet. I got dibs on the Katana with the ivory handle."

Evan turned back to him and shook his head no with an evil grin on his face. "I called it long before we even knew you were alive. You get one of the European swords."

Josh frowned. "Fine. But I get shotgun for the rest of the day."

Evan nodded in agreement. "Fine."

JD smiled and got into his dream vehicle. Sure the back fender was slightly bent from his little mishap earlier, but it was still a fine machine. He loved the feel of it, the leather padded steering wheel, the black leather seats, everything about this vehicle was perfect. If only he had one in a time less dire.

Evan sat back in his seat and watched the outside for anything that could pose a threat. He had done this before, but that was just a mind game to pass the time, now it was real. At any second his life might end. He was at war, at war with his friends and family and there were more of them then himself and his group.

Josh polished his Magnum with his white muscle shirt, he didn’t know what it was about this gun that made him love it so much. It could have been the hour of TLC he had put into it to make it a more lethal killer, it could be the simple steel design of the thing, and it could have been the power it represented. He didn’t know and he really didn’t care. He just loved to hold it and sadistically looked forward to shooting it for the first time.

They arrived at Trade winds a few seconds later, it was a short drive from Bush Boys to here, they could have walked and under normal circumstances probably would have. However, that was not the case now, not when their town mates could and would easily take a chunk out of them just to fulfill one of their most basic urges. The trio stepped out of the Hummer and scanned the area, it seemed that they had killed the majority of the zombies in this area during the 7-11 assault. They could spot a few walking corpses staggering through the many parked and crashed cars down the main street and even a few dogs but they tried not to worry to much about them and instead entered the open store. The bomb had dropped, it seemed, just as most stores were opening, so access to anything in the town other than houses would be simple. JD and Josh entered first with Evan backing into the store, sniper rifle at ready.

"It’s clear in the front part of the store." JD announced, Josh had already grabbed three of the four swords on the display wall, handing an ornate broadsword to JD and the ivory handled katana reluctantly to Evan, taking a simple looking long sword for himself. A slight moan could be heard in the back of the store and the boys decided it was about time to leave. JD and Josh lead the way out again, Evan taking up the flank and searching for the source of the moan through the scope of his gun.

"Come on, let’s get into the Hummer and find a way out of here." JD offered. The other boys complied. JD started the vehicle with ease and checked the gauges. "We’re low on gas. Should we head up to Canadian Tire? They have the lowest gas prices…" JD stopped himself and let out a scared laugh. "Right, I don’t need to worry about gas money."

The other boys joined in on his laugh and soon they were all clutching their stomachs and near tears. Then, breaking up their happy hour session a surreal barking came from just outside of the Hummer. Evan and Josh looked quickly to JD. "We’re gone." JD said, putting the petal to the floor and maneuvering around the abandoned cars, some still containing zombies scratching at the windows as the trio passed by. JD took a back way to get to Canadian Tire so he could avoid the majority of the vehicles that littered the streets of Lindsay.

A few minutes later they arrived at Canadian Tire and JD started to fill up the Hummer as Evan and Josh scanned the parking lot for zombies. There were a good amount of them, staggering aimlessly, not noticing their prey, or at least not seeming to. Evan shouldered his rifle and called out to JD. "Does the Hummer have a CD player?"

JD peeked inside the Hummer and checked. "Yeah. Looks like a nice one too."

Evan smiled. "I’m tired of listening to nothing. I’m heading into the CD store to grab a couple punk CDs and maybe a bit of Metal."

Josh smiled. "Good idea dude. I’ll come with."

Evan smiled, glad to have the company. "Think you can hold the fort here JD?" He asked, already heading towards the mall that was headed up by Zellers.

JD nodded and turned to put his back against the Hummer and drew a pistol. "Good to go. But try to grab some Good Charlotte or Reel Big Fish."

Evan nodded. *To think that all of those amazing band members out there are probably dead. Whoa… There is going to be next to nothing if we get out of this."

Meanwhile, in the United States’ missile control center. A zombie technician wandered around, searching for something… tasty… something… moving and warm. It didn’t know what the thing it was searching for was, but it wanted to eat it. Its blank eyes searched the room for something that fit the description and found one of its truly dead comrades. It wasn’t very warm, but it would have to do. The zombie lurched towards the corpse and was soon on it, taking chunk after chunk out of the flesh of its former college. The zombie’s hand pressed down on the keypad of the control panel and the screen lit up, getting the thing’s attention. "RRgh?" It queried. The screen flashed a picture of a missile silo with three bio weapon rockets primed and ready to go. The zombie didn’t comprehend what was happening and soon lost interest. It turned back to its meal and continued to feast, its hand strayed again and another button was pushed, a large red one that read ‘fire’. The screen started to go hazy as the missiles began to take off. A kind sounding female voice rang over the PA system. "Bio weapon missiles have been launched, target Congo, operation fallen angel has been completed." The zombie searched the room for the voice’s owner. The voice sounded tasty, warm even. It would find the voice, it would find the voice and it would feast.

End of Chapter one.

Author’s notes:

(Well, I admit that this isn’t my first Resident Evil fic, or my first collaboration, but it is my first time attempting to convey a serious attitude towards a project. I know that this is basically SI light. This being because Morden is not putting his digital pen to our virtual paper, but that’s because he has so many other projects and I need to help Josh Devan break into the world of Fanfiction, though I am not a household name if you will, but I still know a thing or two thanks to Morden’s teaching. I know that the quick entrance and exit of Snake may annoy some of you, but that was not me writing it so I don’t know what Josh wants to do about that. But I find that it is a way to bring out Josh’s and my characters instead of having a big name hardcore spy type person to soak up the spotlight. So I hope you enjoy the fic, and yes I am evil because of the little ‘bomb the only haven in the world’ shtick at the end there, but I needed a way to end the chapter and what better thing than mass destruction and the killing of any hope for our heroes. Anywho, see you later and thanks for reading The Undead Protocols.)

[heh, yeah I felt that Snake should die fast and Evan said why, I don’t want a big name hardcore spy taking the spotlight. And this IS my first Fan-Fic and I hope that I can write a lot if SOMEBODY lets me. I think that this could go on forever and forever is what we got so I guess that this will be a "never ending story" if you will. Well that’s all I got to say, Talk To You Later!]
